It requires quite a lot of logical thought and it forces you to be a lot more creative than other things in the market. Joke Redstone: Just screw around and have fun with this one.Do you think Minecraft should be held up as an educational resource for younger kids? I guess so yes. Survival Redstone: honestly just look up the tutorial for what you're trying to build and it shouldn't be too hard to figure out since this type of redstone tends to be really straightforward Technical Redstone: ilmango and other scicraft members (he usually lists quite a few in the scicraft videos he makes) Slimestone: Cubehamster, Mumbo, Sethbling had some stuff with slimeblocks at some point iirc Game: tbh just learn computational and apply that to game logic and it'll work fineĭoor Redstone: Dico200, SidneyMC600, Megatech, Mumbo has some decent tutorials, etc (these tend to be showcases but you can learn how timings etc work by analyzing these videos) There are definite overlaps between different types of redstone so even if you learn one type, you may learn stuff about others too.įor youtube resources for each type of redstoneĬomputational: youtubers like Newomaster, Bennyscubed, TheWildJarvi, Lysus (self promoing a bit lol tbh not too great but ok at intro stuffs ig) Synergy Server has the best door redstoners like megatech, etc (not sure if they play much anymore)Ĭubekrowd is more of a place for slimestone and survival redstone. ORE which has some of the best computational redstoners out there Topred also has a lot of really good computational redstoners and a lot of the staff team on there are also staff on here like Nano_ and TheWildJarvi (it is primarily a french server but quite a few people speak english)

The different types of redstone are: Computational redstone: Logic, CPUs, Calculators, etc Door/Piston redstone: doors, trapdoors, staircases, etc Game Redstone: Games like Connect 4, Minesweeper, Battleship, TicTacToe, etc Slimestone: Flying machines, robots, etc Technical Redstone: Utilizing advanced game mechanics and data to optimize the game such as highly optimized farms, etc (scicraft stuff) Survival Redstone: Just things you'd find in survival outside of the other topics, i.e farms, auto smelters, rail systems, password locks, etc Jokw Redstone: Misc redstone that people do for fun like useless machines, etcĪfter this you can chose to join a redstone server which will help a lot since several redstone servers have the best redstoners out there for example This can be done through experimentation or by watching tutorials on how basic components work like Mumbo,Īfter this determine what type of redstone you want to learn. You don't need to know every little trick at first, that will come naturally through experience and experimentation and having a good fundamental understanding will give you a framework to build on. The best thing to do to start is to learn how redstone components work.

Also people who look up to Mumbo as a redstone expert or whatever a lot tend to restrict themselves from getting better cause when it comes to people who are experienced with redstone, he's not that high up.

This advice just sounds like a bunch of people on the low end of the dunning kruger effect thinking they're giving good advice when all they do is just say to watch someone without explaining what to watch or what to do to learn. But this is really easy to learn and doesn't amount to much long term. I've been seeing quite a few people say "watch MumboJumbo" or something like that to people who ask for help and not give any real advice.įirst off, Mumbo isn't a bad entry level resource, has decent explanations on various components and basic components.
